I recently discovered some old family photos showing my work as a teenager, but more importantly, the work of my grandmother.  I have no memory of the cakes she made for me or my siblings but I do remember vaguely the adorable sugar eggs she made at Easter.  I wish I'd been old enough to ask her about her love for this art but she passed away before I showed interest in the hobby.   Many thanks to my brother for spending the long weeks hunting through family photos and negatives and scanning them to disc!

My dad kept bees as a hobby during my teenage years.  It says, "Love from the Hive" and I likely found the inspiration in a Wilton yearbook.   1976

I made this cake for our littlest sister, Robin, likely upon her graduation from middle school.  I wonder if the good speller caught my spelling error?  Or was it a family joke?  There was always a prank of some kind going on in my family.  We did have lots of fun!    Likely about 1976.

This photo of course has nothing to do with cakes but it is my favorite from the entire bunch of photos my brother sent.  This is my parents in Europe on a rare free day during his time with the Army; about 1956.  He was based in Germany during the very early years of their marriage which has now spanned 55 loving and happy years.

This is me at about four or five years old.  I love this photo not only for the cake but for my brother hiding under the table.  1964/1965

My brother, Ronnie, with a cake made by our grandmother, likely about 1968.

My sister, Cindy, with her doll cake.  I'm not sure it tripped her trigger!  She was a tom boy through and through.  Love that headdress!
